Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in the countryside when out taking my daily photographs.

Time

It was just after mid day at around 1;30pm with the sun shining high in the sky.

Lighting

I decided to use all natural lighting. The area I which I captured this photograph was quite shaded and the sun was shining through the trees which was very effective.

Equipment

This was shot on a Canon Eos 1200D with a 75-300mm lens. I did not use any other equipment.

Inspiration

I really wanted to capture the candidness and peacefulness of the countryside full of creatures roaming freely in their natural habitat.

Editing

I just slightly adjusted the contrast and highlight levels. I did want this image to look as natural as possible.

In my camera bag

The first thing I pack in my camera bag is my Canon Eos 1200d usually with a standard 18-55mm lens. The next things I pack are my two macro lenses (75-300mm), I use these quite a lot when I am covering gigs or if I spot wildlife in the countryside. I also pack an external flash gun with spare batteries, a glass ball for refraction photography, a GoPro and also back up batteries, memory cards and cleaning equipment for my camera.

Feedback

Patience is a virtue. It took me weeks before I got the perfect shot. Also, try and use a fast shutter speed if you want to capture the motion blur from the butterfly flying away.
