Location
I shot this on our amazing road trip in Irland March 2020 just before COVID-19 shut everything down. It was the most incredible time. Ireland stole my heart. This location is Dunmore Head in County Kerry near Coumeenoole.Time
We were fortunate to stumble on this location as our days drive was nearing its end. We spent a couple hours here and watched the sunset. This photo was taken about 5:00pmLighting
The lighting speaks for itself in this image. Stunning view and I am so happy I could capture it.Equipment
I was shooting on a Nikon D700 with a 55-105mm lens, handheld.Inspiration
The emotions I felt being there is that moment was all the inspiration I needed. I wanted to stop time and never leave.Editing
I adjusted the contrast and reduced the hightlighs so that the sun wasn't so overpowering. This brought out the true warmth of the scene. In my camera bag
At that time I was carrying only my D700 and compact 55-105mm lens as I was traveling for a few weeks. Generally I carry a Nikon D300, D700, 50mm 1.4, 70-300mm and the 55-105mm. Tragically my D700 and favourite 55mm 1.4 lens fell out of my camera bag into the ocean this past summer and broke my heart..... I lost both. Since then I have purchased the Nikon D810. Only my 70-300mm lens will work with it and I a not able to invest in another lens at this time. A work in progress. I'm rather limited with the 70-300mm lens but for now at least I have a camera!Feedback
I would advise anyone to take a trip to Ireland (hopefully travel will be posible again soon) and take your time touring. Its a stunning part of the world and a very inspiring country.
