St. John's Catholic Church now sits empty on the plains of Texas, a relic of past settlement. The beautiful brick structure, built in 1936, empty of pews and sacred adornment, still attracts pilgrims seeking a sacred moment. The congregation that once filled the building found its roots in 1908 with masses held in the Mary's Creek schoolhouse or the Marak family home. The first church structure was built in 1909.
