Behind The Lens

Location

This is Dimadimalangat rock formation in Baler, Aurora Province, Philippines. Its is in the eastern part of Luzon facing the Pacific Ocean.

Time

Woke up late actually. I'm suppose to wake up around 4 a.m. to set up everything for the sunrise but woke up around 5:30 am. I quickly grabbed my gears and went downstairs and ran towards the rocky sea shore. It's a good thing the house we are staying in at that time is just a few steps away from the sea.

Lighting

Half of the sky is cloudy while half is well lit by the sun. Good contrast and drama.

Equipment

This picture was taken with Canon 7D with a 10-22mm UWA lens with a 3-stop soft edge graduated GND filter.

Inspiration

You can't see much photos of this rock formation in the net, especially during sunrise or sunset. I got excited to when our vacation to the place was confirmed.

Editing

Processed with Lightroom for correction of WB, leveling of horizon, and adjustment of exposure. Then in Photoshop for the tweaking of color saturation, clarity, sharpening, and glow.

In my camera bag

I normally carry my Canon camera, and UWA lens and 24-70 zoom lens, a sturdy tripod whenever I go for landscape shoot. Also my set of GND filters.

Feedback

Be at the location early, look for a good vantage point, be prepared and shoot away!
