Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my front yard. I have four rose bushes that are currently in bloom. I was sick for about 10 days, I don’t know if it was COVID because I couldn’t get a test, but quarantined myself anyway as a precaution. Because of this I had to look for inspiration in and around my home...hence the name “Quarantine Rose”.

Time

This was taken in the late morning/early afternoon, just when the shade from my house took over my front yard.

Lighting

When taking photos with my iPhone, I find I get the best results out of direct sunlight.

Equipment

I just used my trusty IPhone 7 Plus. I don’t generally use a flash and I have no specialized equipment.

Inspiration

As per my comment above, I’ve had to look at home for inspiration. My roses have been especially beautiful this year (silver lining). I enjoy taking Macro shots the best. It’s like I can get a better understanding of the beauty of a subject and it’s parts that way.

Editing

With my iPhone photos, I generally run them through Instagram and play with their editing tools until I get the result I want. This is what I did with this photo.

In my camera bag

I’m on disability from a spine injury, so I carry as little as possible. These days I use my iPhone a great deal.

Feedback

Take lots and lots of photos of the scene/subject...from different angles, distances, etc. Sometimes you don’t know what will end up turning out the best.
