My little toddler daughter, I took this photo in our front yard where we have some frangipani trees. While we were hanging around and about, she loves picking up the flowers those dropped and smell them. So I put a flower on top of her ear.

This photo was taken at our front house courtyard. Where we have Frangipani trees.Time
We were just hanging out by our courtyard on the first day of this year 2020. It was summer and the sun set very late around 7:30 pm during summer time in Perth, Western Australia. My little girl who was only 19 months of age at the time really enjoy the nature, she was really intrigued by the flowers from our Frangipani trees. Some flowers have fallen on the ground, she picked and collected some of them out of curiosity. I picked one for her and placed it on top of her ear. The photo was taken on the 1st January 2020, at 6:27 pm (AWST).Lighting
It was summer time in Perth, Western Australia. Hence, the sunset is very late around 7:30 pm. At 6:27 pm the sunlight is still very strong however there was more warm hue during that time, compare with sunlight in the morning. If the object is facing the light as oppose to the other direction, it creates a good natural lighting with good shadow balance and warm natural hue.Equipment
I use handheld Nikon D3100 Camera, no flash and since this is a close up shot I just need a 18-55mm lens.Inspiration
I always enjoy taking photo of children, especially my own kids. I have two kids and I spent a lot of time photographing them. Especially in their candid moments, capturing their various expressions and sparkly eyes are priceless.Editing
Yes, I used a little bit of brightening, decrease the shadow, increase the saturation and contrast. To accentuate the look and feel of the photo. In my camera bag
I have my Nikon D3100, 2 types of lenses (18 - 55mm lens for shorter shot & 55mm - 200mm lens for longer shot which comes with lens hood) and a small bendable tripod, an extra battery for my camera and a lens's wipe.Feedback
For a candid close up portrait moment, I think just let the situation unfolds naturally. Always be ready (but not stress/panic) because it could come and go in a minute, took several shots in one go and choose the one that really represents the situation well. Try to capture the emotions, such as the smile, the excitement, the sparkle of the eyes, the giggle, the facial expressions.
