I'm looking out the window of an old monastery turned hotel over the rooftops of the nearby buildings. Swiftly flowing beyond is the Danube River, with the Hungarian Parliament building rising majestically on the other shore.
A bit of minutiae about the Parliament building: It was built between 1885 to 1902 for the millennium celebrations of 1896. Nearly a thousand people worked in building the structure with 40 million bricks, half a million precious stones and 40 kilograms (88 lb) of gold.
Budapest, including the Banks of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter and Andrássy Avenue are on on the UNESCO World Heritage List #N47 28 56.712 E19 4 14.412
