I took the photo album in my friends condo you’re in Boston.Time
It was a little bit later in the day probably around 3 PM. There was a bit of Hayes outside but I didn’t have much light coming through. Most of this is my studio lighting.Lighting
Anything worth sharing about lighting? Well, everything. I mean anything and everything to do with life is worth sharing. We only do photography BECAUSE of light; without it..I wouldn’t like to think about that actually :) But in regards to how I lit this: Are used LED panels, with one set up as a primary light source and the other a small fill light.Equipment
I believe I shot this on my Canon 7D Mark II body, and my sigma 35 mm 1.4 lens (art series). It’s a cropped sensor so it probably equates to a 50mm as far as out of camera appearance.Inspiration
The smash hit Mad Men series. It’s difficult to not draw inspiration from Don Draper.Editing
I do some minimal editing; maybe a small de-noise, some small color edits, blemish correction, crop. That’s about it.In my camera bag
I have several different camera bags. But you are probably asking about my day bag if I were just going out for a shoot, and not the big travel bag when I leave the country LOL my usual suspects include my canon 70 to 200 constant 2.8, my sigma art series, and maybe a wide range lens like my 18-135 mm (a common lens that can come with the Canon body kits—great lens for versatility)Feedback
If you’re trying to find information on these types of techniques check out some three-point lighting videos on YouTube or perhaps Portrait Lighting. There’s so many great examples out there of people who really know lighting. Watch them, learn from them, be inspired by them; free knowledge from people who know. (The whole world should be like that!) open source. ???????? To get you started: Annie Liebowitz (my mentor without having ever met her), Lindsey Adler, Joel Grimes...so many. And practice. Practice. Experiment. Practice. Be inspired. Practice (then repeat). (Please forgive all grammatical & spelling errors, I go much faster than my skill allows when typing)
