Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken at my trip to the hill station named Lonavala, Maharashtra, India. We went to a park with a good view of the hills and greenary but I noticed that a mother was taking care of her baby and I decided to capture that moment.

Time

It was very cloudy on that particular day. This picture was taken at afternoon around 2.20 pm but due to the cloudy and rainy weather it seems to taken at late evening or morning.

Lighting

Due to the heavy clouds the sun was fully covered and it was about to start raining. It was kind of hazy but I think the weather made a beautiful impact on the outcome of the image having those clouds and greenary on background.

Equipment

This was shot on Samsung NX500 with 16-50 mm kit lens. It was a handheld shot. Exif details are : 50mm F/9.0 1/400 sec ISO 100

Inspiration

I went at this particular place to take a picture of a nice view from the height but this mother-baby duo caught my attention. I was impressed by the emotions shown by a mother towards the baby. She was protective towards baby. Whenever the baby tries to go near a human she would pull the baby back towards her. While the baby was eating she was rubbing her hand over the head of the baby while looking. This particular moment was so great to witness in-person and I tried to portray it here.

Editing

Yes I did basic enhancement on this picture. I used Lightroom Mobile for the editing. Post-processing includes shadow correction, dehaze, and color saturation.

In my camera bag

I used to have Samsung NX500 and 16-50mm kit lens. I didn't even owned the camera bag back then. Right now in addition to my previous camera I have Nikon P1000, Raynox DCR-250, and a Tripod.

Feedback

Whenever you go out on a trip or just out of your home for photography then don't just look for the scenes for which you came. Look around yourself for other scenes too because you can find the perfect frame right next to you.
