Location
This photo was taken in the Arboretum in my hometown. It was one of the first trees that started to bloom, first start of the spring.Time
This was taken when the sun started to set, so the light was nice warm and soft.Lighting
The golden hour is an excellent timing for outside photography, it gives such a nice warm and soft light, I love it.Equipment
My favorite Canon EOS 6Dii was my gear for this photo. I used a prime EF 40mm F2.8, which I took with me as a test, it was brand new delivered that day. To get so close to the blossom, I also added a extension tube. No flash, just the sunlight to lighten up the beautiful blossom.Inspiration
Springtime is one big inspiration for me, everything starts to bloom, the daylight is longer, the colors are getting vibrant. This blossom was one of the first to bloom so I had to picture that.Editing
During post-processing I was surprised by the result of the lens and the effect of the extensiontube. The image hardly needed extra work, just a nice crop and a little more saturation. In my camera bag
Depends on the purpose of the shoot, for this photo I took this lens because it was brand new to me. My plan is to use this one (Canon EF40mm F2.8) more for my studiowork, but this photo was obviously not taken in the studio, but outside.Feedback
Don't be afraid to experiment with your equipment. This beautiful DOF was due to the addition on an extensiontube, which makes you able to get closer to your subject and makes your lens act like a macro-lens.
