Behind The Lens
Location
I took this image at Lake Crackenback Resort in the Snowy Mountains in New South Wales, Australia.Time
I was riding my bike early in the morning when I saw this Kangaroo grazing on the edge of the lake. He didn't seem too worried about my presence so I took the opportunity to set up my camera and take few shots.Lighting
This was early morning so the light was still coming up over the mountains. There was fog and cloud which provided lovely diffused lighting.Equipment
I used my Nikon D5600 handheld with a 35mm prime lens. f/8 1/80 400 ISOInspiration
I loved the curves of the mountain reflecting in the lake and reflecting the curves of the Kangaroo. The colours and composition were just there, waiting for me to capture.Editing
I did some simple post-processing to add detail and a small amount of desaturation of the colours. In my camera bag
I always take my camera and a selection of prime lens with me, 35mm 50mm and 85mm. I also carry a raincoat, beanie, a water bottle and a snack!Feedback
Patience! Try to resist the urge to just shoot whatever is in front of you. Take the time to compose your image in your mind, get the lighting right and try different apertures of the same image. Make sure your subject is sharp.
