Location
I took this photo outdoors during a photo workshop. It was a winter day, the day was cloudy.Time
it was about 4 in the afternoon, the time is not important because the light was diffused. I was very happy with this close-up because the soft light did not produce marked shadowsLighting
for outdoor portraits with natural light it is important to choose days with a cloudy sky. allows to have a uniform, soft light with few shadows on the face. Portraits are ideal with this light especially close-upsEquipment
I took this photo freehand using a Nikon SLR and a medium Tamron telephoto lens. I have not used any other equipment, it did all the natural light and, of course, the expressiveness of the model.Inspiration
the purpose of a portrait is to highlight the expressiveness of the subject. I always try to establish a collaborative relationship with the subject to allow both to obtain the best result. when I photograph people I never ask to take poses or expressions but to express one's mood in complete tranquility. I am not looking for the beauty of the person but the beauty of the moment. in this case each subject becomes a discovery and a challenge.Editing
a portrait doesn't require a lot of post production work. in this case I only corrected the cut of the shot and I softened the lights. nothing in particular, as I said I was lucky enough to have a favorable natural light for the success of the photoIn my camera bag
I try to move lightly and bring with me the necessary for the type of photographs I intend to take. in this case I had brought the 50mm and 70-300mm, a flash, a tripod for the flash and the trigger (it could be useful to improve the shadows outdoors). for landscapes things change, I only use a wide-angle lens, 11-16mm, ND filters and rigorously the tripodFeedback
I am not a professional, therefore, I am not afraid of losing a profit. I try to have fun and put the model at ease without the pressure that the job must be perfect. the only advice or suggestion that I want to give is that the subject must always be respected, must have the right times, breaks and motivations to get the best results.
