Location
This fruit bearing flowering cactus grows all along the slender road leading to the Chapel of the Holy Cross in Sedona, Az.Time
We were coming back from a 5 AM trip to the mountains, about 2 PM on a sunny afternoon, having visited the Chapel at the end of a narrow curvy road. That in itself was a sample of modernistic architecture. We walked down the steep road, snapping pictures of cacti. This was one of them.Lighting
No artificial lighting was employed. The sun was still quite strong and the best we could do was to approach the plant from its most photogenic side, trying not get impaled by surrounding cacti.Equipment
I was using my miniature Sony, without a tripod HX90V, at 1/100 exposure. This little camera was a lifesaver on many occasions. It has a terrific zoom lens and all the flexibility one would ever need in 95% of tasks demanded of it.Inspiration
The world of cacti cannot be ignored in Arizona. Odd shapes and colours constantly demand attention.Editing
Very little post processing was required. In my camera bag
As I get older, and so does my wife, weight of equipment is an important consideration. I keep my large Sony’s in the car, together with the heavy lenses. Most of the time I can do without them.Feedback
Being at the site I was at, it would be difficult not to shoot a decent picture. You just need basic sense of composition. In other words, chose your location and the pictures will follow.
