Nothing like a new camera to bring out the creative juices.

Had to get quite low to shoot this, fortunately without getting any barbs in the rear.

Behind The Lens

Location

Taken in Scottsdale, AZ on an overcast day. Retouched with Luminar and Photoshop. I go back and forth depending on what I want to accomplish.

Time

Around 10 AM, overcast. I am a gut photographer. I have the image in my mind and do the camera settings accordingly, like everybody else I suppose. I prefer overcast for closeups of plants.

Lighting

Nothing special here.

Equipment

Used my new Sony full frame, with 35mm, 1.8 Sony lens. The large pixel count of the camera allows me to concentrate on a small area and still have ample resolution.

Inspiration

This was in a place called Desert Botanical Garden in Scottsdale. Lots of picture opportunities. (Admission fee.)

Editing

It was an easy job. Because of overcast, I brought out a bit more colour and brilliance.

In my camera bag

Two Sony cameras each with its lens, one 35mm and one zoom (25 to 70). Tripod and monopod, of course. I would carry more but I’m getting old for cartage.

Feedback

Go with your gut and practice a lot. Enough to know the basics except for special situation, like night and macro.
