Caernarfon Castle is a medieval fortress in Caernarfon, Gwynedd, north-west Wales cared. It was a motte-and-bailey castle from the late 11th century until 1283 when King Edward I of England began to replace it with the current stone structure. The Edwardian town and castle acted as the administrative center of north Wales, and as a result the defenses were built on a grand scale.

That castle has so much history (and related fiction too) and was built upon a treasure of Roman and Norman history too... amazing! I have put it on my bucket list (at last...) Thanks Joop!

You're correct. You did your homework again. ;-) If you go there, you should plan a sort of castle tour, there are many beautiful ones not too far from eachother.
