Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken outside my house on the farm in the Free State, South Africa.

Time

I decided it was time to play with the longer lens again, and was looking for interesting images. As I walked past the thistle, the late afternoon caught the seed just right, and the long lens gave a beautiful blurred back ground.

Lighting

Was looking for late afternoon light images, and the angle of the sun was just right to catch the fine parts of the seed. Did have to position myself a few different ways to catch all three stages, and keep the light on the subject.

Equipment

I used my Nikon D7000, with the 75-300 lens(I think some people call it a stock lens!) and mounted on a tripod.

Inspiration

Was experimenting with the longer lens and late afternoon light.

Editing

Only post-processing was in ViewNX2 - the Nikon program- Contrast adjustment

In my camera bag

I only have the Nikon D7000, and the 40 mm, 50 mm, 18-105 mm stock lens, and the 75 - 300 mm lens.

Feedback

During the worldwide travel ban, look around your immediate location. There are sometimes quite surprising subjects, and for an amateur like myself, that brings the joy of capturing an interesting photo.
