The photo was taken in the spur of the moment type situation in canvey island, UK. I was out with my son and partner with no intention of taking any shots, to enjoy a walk around the lake with absolutely no idea it was geesling season! I saw a huge bunch of baby geese scuttling along and had to grab a shot before they vanished!Time
It was just after golden hour. The sun had started to lower but there was still plenty of sunshine. It was especially warm that day with blue skies all around.Lighting
Unfortunately I can't take any credit for lighting, since the shot wasn't set up and happened by chance, I got extremely lucky in having some great natural daylight, it really illuminated the surroundings in the shot.Equipment
I usually always have my camera on me but on this particular day I had just my smartphone on me, shot on a galaxy s7 with semi manual settings. Iso 100, f/4.2, Shutterspeed 1/100.Inspiration
I was just walking around the lake to get some of my sons energy out before starting bedtime and just suddenly noticed a huge bunch of baby geeslings with their parents heading to the lake and had to get the shot. I really wanted to capture the moment so I layed down on my stomach on the grass and took my moment!Editing
Since the shot was taken on my smart phone, the depth of field wasn't great so I decided to add a lenses blur to get the focus on the one particular specimen. A quick adjustment of exposure and the shot was good to go.In my camera bag
Just starting out in a more advanced side of photography so I currently travel light with just my Nikon D3500 and 18-55mm kit lense, I hope to expand in the near future and have my eye on a couple of telephoto prime lenses!Feedback
As much as you can try and plan for these things, you have to prepare for things going wrong out of your control. My best advice would be to take the moment even if its not quite perfect and make it unique! No 2 photographers are the same, find your style and make it unique. Even if it had rained during this shot, for example, I would adapt to embrace the rain into the shot rather than give up and label it a failure! Every picture is a story.
