Theyyam is a popular ritual form of worship in Kerala, India, as a living cult with several thousand-year-old traditions, rituals and customs. Theyyam rituals which take place in north Kerala between November and March, include the practice of jumping through fire. This is meant to signify the omnipotence of the god manifest and who is usually accompanied by two priests as his protectors as he jumps through flames.
