Location
It was taken during a cruise voyage to Glacier Bay Alaska in late spring.Time
It was an evening before sunset. The ship was leaving Glacier Bay Park and the channel was surrounded by range of snow capped mountains. The lighting of the mountain in the photo caught me and a series of photos were taken.Lighting
That was a cloudy evening, the surrounding was dim and this small hill over the plateau shined by the light of the setting sun caught my eye. The environment was so clam and peaceful.Equipment
Nikon D800, Nikkor 70-200 F4 Zoom - Handheld.Inspiration
On the second day of that Cruise journey 8 passengers of the ship were killed in a plane crash accident during their excursion. The atmosphere on the ship was not pleasant. That scenery shown on the photo gave me clam and hope.Editing
The photo was taken in raw format. Developed in Photoshop. Highlight was reduced and shadow was brighten then a typical S-Curve was applied to adjust the contrast. In my camera bag
I usually carry 2 cameras in my bag. A Sony A7 with 24-105 F4 or 16-35 F4 and A Nikon D800 with 70-200 F4 or F2.8. Not required to change lens in most cases - just pick up the camera and shoot. Of course there are extra batteries and cleaning tools too.Feedback
Lighting is the key of this type of photo. Without the beauty of the light the photo is just a point and shoot picture. Try to find some interesting lighting and it makes the difference. In addition, don't focus only on wide-angle lens when taking landscape photo you will miss a lot without a long lens :)
