This photo was taken in North Delta B.C. Canada. They came from arctic to B.C. for the warm weather and gather in the marsh near the dike.Time
The best time to photo these birds is early in the morning. These birds hunt at night and return to their nesting place in the morning.Lighting
Morning light is good as the light is soft. Which is perfect to show the beautiful feather go the bird.Equipment
A Nikon D300S with a 400mm zoom lens was used to take this picture. Since the combination was not too heavy the photo was taken handheld.Inspiration
It was just by chance. The bird just like showing off his pretty feather and inviting me to take this picture.Editing
I usually take photo in RAW format and develop them using camera raw in photoshop. Highlight / shadow was adjust to improve the texture of the feather.In my camera bag
I only carry the camera and lens when doing bird photography.Feedback
Do more study about the type of bird you are going to photo. Scout for the location and ask fellow photographer of tips.
