Location
I took this shot on cold foggy frosty winters morning on the shore of a little lake called Killyfole close to the villege of Rosslea in Co Fermanagh.Time
The defused morning light caused by the low sun and clinging mist created an almost gothic feel to the view of the jetty jutting out into the lake and the mix of black and white and shades of blue crete an atmosphere of a Celtic past where one could a Viking longship looming out of the mist to raid the local settlements.Lighting
I wanted to captue the almost unreal aspect of the light and the drifting soft defused colours created by the winters morning and the fog as it drifted in the still air. illumnated by the low sun.Equipment
A handheld shot gave me the freedom to choose my angle before the whole aspect changed with the movment of air around the lake.Inspiration
The unusual has always facinated me and the urge to show others what I have seen drives my constantly trying to capture something that makes a different image.Editing
This was a straight shot possibly a little sharpning and some croping of the image to make it almost cinemascope in its vision.I find the best editing is done in camera as you take the shot .In my camera bag
A camera with short zoom lens and a medium telephoto and a wide angle as wide as I can afford as it creates impact in many often ordinary shots.Feedback
Look around, take pictures try different angles and above all do not be afraid to try something different at a time which may not be considered ideal for pictures. Above all create your image and to hell what others think if you are happy thats what its all about in our wonderfull obsession.
