This is an incredible image. Hard to believe it is even a photograph; appears unreal or more like a painting. I suppose that is the point. I didn't know Palmdale was on the water? This picture and others on your photo site are well worth studying. Thank you. Well done.

Location
I took this photo at an outdoor studio near Palmdale, CaTime
This picture was taken about 1pmLighting
Full sunlight! I knew it would be a hard light and planned pictures based on that.Equipment
I used a Sony full frame camera and a 25-105mm lens. Nothing else.Inspiration
I used the photos of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helmut_Newton as inspiration for the days shoot.Editing
Post processing was fun and fast using Luminar 2018. After cropping and minor adjustments I tried half a dozen different filters to see what I liked best. If you look at the pictures on ViewBug around this one you can see the effects of some of the different preset filters I tried. In my camera bag
Normally I just carry what is needed for the shoot. Everything else stays in secure storage. For this even I took the camera (with a special strap that hold an extra battery and many SD cards), a lens (Sony 24-105mm) and a few pieces of cloth as props.Feedback
Talk with you model. Let them know what you are trying to do. Get their inputs ahead of time. Show them your work in progress and talk with them about how the images could be improved. If they want to retry something they have probably noticed something that could be improved. You should work as a team.
