Thanks for naming this image of Jillian the winner of the Free In Nature Photo Challenge. The credit all should go to Jillian who is super creative and fun to work with. Her knowledge of the area in Nevada led to us shooting in this wonderful area of the desert.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the area of Nevada known as the Valley of Fire. Jillian is very familiar with this area and knows all the locations available for shooting.

Time

It was taken in the early morning outside about 7 AM. We left the hotel in the dark to get to the area by daylight.

Lighting

The image was taken in sunlight only, no reflectors or other things for lighting effects.

Equipment

This was taken with a Nikon 3200 equipped with a Tamron 28-300 lens. No flash was necessary.

Inspiration

This kind of rolling flat sandy area was a good location for the model to run free and exhibit any dance move she so desired and be shot from 360 degrees with different shadowing on the sand.

Editing

There was very little if any. I try to shoot it and post it the way it was taken. I love shooting outdoors and let it speak for itself.

In my camera bag

Just the camera and the lens mentioned above. I am not able to carry a lot of equipment due to physical limitations.

Feedback

Always let the model be as free as possible to create something for the area you are in. I give less advice while shooting than I did while in business. Try to find a location that matches what you are trying to showcase and keep it as simple as possible. I think all of my work reflects this and don't try to force it just let it happen.
