Location
The photo was taken at a rodeo o Jackson Wyoming. I found erasing the arena background made the horse and rider really stand out. You can appreciate the stress on straining muscles. I played with various backgrounds and settled on this one as my standard. It’s made from a photo of clouds.Time
It was probably taken early evening. It’s been awhile since shooting it. My lens struggled to get a good shot so I have painted over it to eliminate the grainy look and blur.Lighting
The lighting was standard arena lighting. I didn’t have to make adjustments. I push the contrast to bring out color and definition. I have a great filter I use to polish the final Photoshop work.Equipment
I used a Sony alpha II. It was one of the early mirrorless cameras and it’s great for its 24fps shooting with continuous auto focusing. This feature enables me to follow the rider.Inspiration
It’s rodeo!Editing
Lots of post processingIn my camera bag
Camera and 18-135 lens. I may have some filters but seldom use them and spare batteries and memory cards. I carry as little as possible.Feedback
Get a Sony! I considered other cameras but was told to appreciate what Sony had to offer vs the “professional” voice cameras. I chose features and Sony electronic excellence over a name brand label. I let my photos do the impressing for me.
