Location
This photo was taken in Puerto Piramides, which is located in the Valdes Peninsula, Argentina. It is the only populated center and service center within the Valdés Peninsula, an area that was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. This is where the Franca Austral whale watching is done.Time
We were taking a car trip with my partner, all over the Argentine South and this is his obligatory point to visit. After almost two hours of traveling by gravel road we arrived at this place. The weather was beautiful in the month of November, and the sun was there, but the wind also made you freeze your bones.Lighting
The color that the algae left on the stone caught my attention, and also the contrast between the sun and the shadows that these formations generated, so I decided to take out my camera and take some photos.Equipment
This photo coincidentally was taken with my phone, since I had forgotten the memory of the camera battery in the hotel and we had already traveled several hours. But I generally use my Canon camera. On this particular trip, I used a Sony A7 with a Rokinon 8mm lens.Inspiration
What led me to take this photo as I said, was the color that the algae gave to the rock, and beyond that the landscape is dreamy. The entire Peninsula Valdes is beautiful, and there being a nature reserve we can find colonies of Magellanic penguins, seals and whales.Editing
Very little post-processing, I generally use the basics, highlights, shadows, a bit of exposure if necessary and clarity to give it a brighter effect. In my camera bag
It depends on the trip or what you do. Sometimes I have something lighter with me like the Sony A7 that does not have a mirror with a Rokinon 8mm lens. And again I take the Canon 1D Mark ii with me with a 50mm 1.8 lens, but it all depends on what I am going to do.Feedback
I think that telling others to photograph or as it is totally subjective, I think you have to let yourself go for the moment. If you are on a trip before taking many photographs, the first thing I recommend is to take the camera down and enjoy the scenery, soak up the beauty that nature offers us and then take the photos. That moment transforms the end result, and helps you better keep a memory of that particular place.
