This cereus (cyrus) flower bloomed in our backyard (not in a park near us). It is a night bloom very similar or look almost identical to some cactus blooms. It is as big as my palm. It starts to bloom after dark and this shot was taken around 12:30 after midnight. Its fragrant is incredibly strong, sweet and better than the smell of most perfumes as we walk across the cosmetic sections in department stores. It attracts flies and bees early in the morning. Then it withers away before sunrise. The Chinese name of this flower is 瓊花or 曇花(Taan Hwa) and has been used as a symbol describing short-lived beauties.
