This was taken on my first trip to Alaska, in Fairbanks. I joined a small group tour - there were five of us, not including the tour leader - led by an actual photographer rather than just any other tour guide. He gave in-depth instruction on how to photograph the Aurora to those of us who really wanted to learn how to shoot the Lights properly. Since I was the only one of the group who really wanted to learn how to photograph the Aurora instead of just seeing it, I got much more personalized instruction than I would have with lots of other photographers in the group.
