Smith Oaks Sanctuary on High Island at the end of May - the tail end of spring heading into summer - is for lack of a better word, loud. No need for photographers to worry about scaring off the birds - they can't hear the clicking of the camera over themselves anyway. Earlier in the spring the sanctuary is filled with the lively sounds made by amorous couples and those calling to attract a mate. Later, the cacophony is largely attributed to the constantly and ravenously hungry babies and juveniles, like these two. Don't they look just like a pair of siblings blaming each other for the disaster of the day?
