Location
After lots of time waiting for the walkway to be clear of pedestrians, I managed to shoot the ornamental street lights in Deak Ferenc Street, Budapest, just off Vorosmarty Ter, a popular scenic square not far from the Chain Link Bridge over the River Danube.Time
The shot was taken mid morning before the sun had risen to high.Lighting
I had been taking similar shots in the same area, of the rising sun filtering through the morning mist, while waiting for sufficient light to dissipate the shadow down Deak Ferenc Street.Equipment
The picture was taken with a hand held Canon EOS 600D with a 18-135mm lens.Inspiration
Interesting street lighting is a favorite subject of mine and I could not resist the row of lights disappearing down the street.Editing
Having shot a portrait image, cropping the photo to show a slimmer view with buildings on just one side, I believe has enhanced the picture. In my camera bag
I had planed the day's shots I wanted to take so just had the 600D available.Feedback
I am self taught and have learned from mistakes. Some days I see a picture opportunity but don't have a camera with me ... which happens a lot ... but I take note of it and determine when the best time to take the picture would be, and make a point to go back ... assuming that is possible of cause. However, this picture was planed the day before. I had been out with a Lumix point and shoot and taken trial shots of what I wanted to photograph, planed the best time to take them, and from which position. I find that forward planning puts you in the right place, at the right time, to take advantage of the limited time of light you want for the photograph, and you can see the result.
