Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the Veluwe forest in the Netherlands only a few minutes from my home.

Time

I love to go to the forest in the early hours of the day. The most beautiful light is in the early morning and it is nicely quiet.

Lighting

It was a cloudy morning which resulted in nice balanced lightning conditons.

Equipment

I always use a stable tripod with the camera hanging upside-down to get the lowest position possible. The lens is a Tamron 90mm F2.8 macro mounted on a fullframe Sony A99 camera. Only natural light and no flash or other additional light is used.

Inspiration

Living next to the biggest forest area of the Netherlands the fall is the most beautful time of the year to take pics. It could be macro or landscape photography, so I always take 2 lenses with me.

Editing

As the lightning conditions were very good nearly no post-processing was needed. Made it a bit lighter en slightly more saturation.

In my camera bag

As I don't know in front how far I will walk I try to travel as light as possible. But the bag contains a camera, two lenses and an small led panel for additional light on mushrooms when needed. The haviest part is the tripod...

Feedback

In the fall you can find a lot of mushrooms/funghi in the forest. Take a walk and look for some cool specimens of mushrooms. Als look of the background could add something to your photo. Try also to take a photo with the backlight of the low sun and lighten up the muschroom with additional light.
