Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in 2014 of Nadia Simms - when Nadia was an inspiring model/actress! We were working on Nadia's portfolio photos at the time and I came up with the red guitar prop after seeing the red jacket on Nadia....seemed to be a strong combo....:) (Nadia Simms is an actress, known for Fargo (2014), Proven Innocent (2019) and Candyman (2020).

Time

This was taken in the morning down the hill from my home in a private home in a nature reserve. The owner allowed us to use the property for the images, which was so kind of her!

Lighting

The morning sun through the trees captured in a gold reflector....back at Nadia, we also used the Nikon speed-flash with a diffuser...

Equipment

Nikon D810, 70-200mm lens, Nikon SB910 speed-flash, gold reflector.

Inspiration

I wanted to work on Nadia's portfolio...we came up with a few outfits and props..somehow we liked the red coat and guitar.

Editing

...minor exposure adjustments for shadows....and color!

In my camera bag

Nikon D850, D810, Nikon D910 speed-flash, Paul Buff 1600 ws studio strobe lights and battery-pack

Feedback

Use early soft morning shaded light.....use tripod to steady with 30-60 second slower aperture.
