Behind The Lens

Location

This photo of St Pauls was taken from the south side of the river Thames in Central London

Time

It was taken around 9pm one evening at the beginning of October

Lighting

Nothing to share about the lighting as you can see all the lighting involved in the shot in the actual shot... so additional lighting was used.

Equipment

I used my Sony A99ii, with a Carl Zeiss 24-70mm F2.8 lens, and a sturdy tripod.

Inspiration

the days leading up to this evening I had noticed how calm everything was, around the river Thames, the water had been still and calm. So all this inspired me to grab my camera and head on out in to the city and capture some long exposure along the riverside, stopping off at various points.

Editing

I cleaned up the image by removing the dust spots and blemishes, adjusted the white balance to warm the image up, increased the shadows and the blacks and desaturated the image slightly.

In my camera bag

Sony A99ii Carl Zeiss 24-70mm Lens Sony 70-200mm Lens filters spare memory cards and batteries Tripod

Feedback

DSLR camera or equivalent keep the camera still - tripod is an essential Low ISO Slow shutter speed - bulb mode can come in handy if you need to go longer than 30secs Remote control - to avoid any unnecessary camera movement
