Behind The Lens

Location

Hello everybody! I am very glad to tell you a little about this photo. I am from Central Asia, Kyrgyzstan, Osh city. And this photo was taken in the city of Osh.

Time

This is the first half of the day, around 11 am. Maybe a little earlier. Sometimes I walk this road to my place of work. I like this road because it looks like a country road. It is quiet, and cars don't drive often. The gates to houses are often ajar. Small children run out of the gate, play ball or ride a bicycle. Sometimes they greet strangers. Such orders in the Uzbek "mahalla"

Lighting

An autumn day filled with fog. There is a mountain ahead, but it is completely hidden. Only a strange, huge blur in the fog ahead on the way. This spot may seem threatening. But I know that this is my mountain. But I don't recognize her. Now I look at the picture and think that the sun should be on the left, not very high above the horizon at this time of year. But the fog changed everything. Fog is a mystical thing, definitely.

Equipment

Nikon D-3100 and a kit lens

Inspiration

Fog is a mystical thing, definitely. They say that whole groups of people entered strange clouds in the mountains and disappeared without a trace, along with the cloud. Sitting on the couch with a cup of tea in hand, you can ignore these things. But when you stand alone in a mountain gorge and listen to the wind rustling in the stones, your confidence can easily lean into the reality of dreams ... Whatever it is ...

Editing

Yes, I love post-processing! My favorite tool is Lightroom. My main operation is to lower the Exposure, decrease the contrast. I also use gradient filters to separately adjust the clarity and other parameters at the bottom of the frame. If necessary, I do the same at the top of the frame. Then curves. And in Separate toning I add shades of warmth and cold in the light and in the shadows.

In my camera bag

I usually don't carry large cameras with me. A smartphone is often the only camera I have. But when my walks are specially "walking with a camera", then my small camera Nikon D-3100 and a whale lens will be a workhorse. The bag always contains a polarizing filter and a spare battery for the camera. Sometimes I take a 50mm interchangeable lens.

Feedback

I do not consider myself a photographer or a photo artist. My interests are drawing. I am a graphic artist. My camera is the second tool for me. I take pictures not as a photographer, but as an easel painter. Therefore, my photographs are not really photographs. I don’t think I can say anything useful for a real photographer. I am here to get to know and hear a real photographer. All the best and good shot!
