The name of the village comes from the fact that a holy man, Sidi Bou Said, settles there in the XIIIth century to teach there Sufism. He died on the spot and his tomb constitutes the first building of the village. ????????????????❤️
In the 17th century, the dignitaries and notables of Tunis built palaces and houses that became their summer residences. In 1912, a decree imposes white and blue as village colors and prohibits any anarchic construction. ????????????????❤️????☕????
Today, the village welcomes nearly 100,000 tourists a day in summer. These visitors come to admire the Arab-Muslim architecture, the colors, the Mediterranean vegetation, the blue of the sea and the sky. ????????????????❤️????☕????
