An exceptional killing machine is how I would describe the beautifully stunning Sparrowhawk. I was so lucky to get a series of shots of this stunning female and the unfortunate Collared Dove as I had just woken up sat in my chair in front of the desktop PC.Many months back the male Sparrowhawk had paid at least three visits (in a week) to my garden but sadly never returned. Roughly just over two weeks ago I noticed the female swoop across my garden (two houses to the left) and fly off with a juvenile Goldfinch in her talons so my hopes were slightly raised for the chance of an encounter once more and the opportunity for rolling the shutter button of my camera.
Some of you may find the nature of the image slightly upsetting but what else can a Sparrowhawk do? They either eat or die.
