I love to drive around to look for new places to shoot landscape. This time I had my friend, Terri, with me and we found this little lake in the Kawartha Lake region. It was around the Balsam Lake Provincial Park region.Time
This was a beautiful spring evening up at the trailer, didn’t think we would find a spot in time to capture these shots!! It was June 30 around 8:45 pm.Lighting
I wanted to make sure I had enough detail for the sky as well as catching the flare from the sun...Equipment
I used a Nikon D750 with a Sigma 14-24 mm f/2.8 lens My settings were f18 1/6 iso100 I also had my trusty monfrotto tripod with me.Inspiration
I am always on the lookout for a great sunset/sunrise photo.Editing
I used photoshop and camera raw to bring out the detail from the sky on one photo, colour correct, and fix the white balance and keep the detail of the foreground, blend them together using photoshop. In my camera bag
I carry with my D750 body my Sigma’s 14-24mm 2.8 and my 70-200mm 2.8. I also carry my kit lens, a Nikkor 24-120 mm f4 because I really like it as well. I have a few extra batteries just in case I’m out longer than I thought. A flashlight and some hand warmers just in case it gets dewy after dusk. They work great at keeping your lenses from fogging up!!Feedback
My advice would be just to go out and drive those back roads. You never know where you will drive upon to capture really anything!! Take a friend that is interested in photography as well... they make great co captains and have extra eyes to find those nooks and crannies...
