Location
This photo was taken during a photo event in a forest near Eindhoven (the Netherlands) in 2016. Every year this event is organized by a Facebook photo group of which I am a member (CCC.Holland). Every year there are also different themes that you can choose from to take pictures of. In addition to all kinds of different models (Steampunk models, models from the Napoleon era, fire-eaters and more), there were also many different birds of prey present in 2016. One was this mini owl (just 10 centimetres big!).Time
The event was during daylight and I think this particular photo was taken more around 14.00 or 15.00 o'clock.Lighting
The lighting was not optimal, because the event was in a forest and around a pond in that forest. The place where all the birds of prey were, was in the forest part. So there was a light canopy of leaves over the area that tempered the light.Equipment
The photo was shot with a Sony a350 (from 2008), with a Sigma 17-70mm lens. Afterwards I edited the photo with 'PixLR'.Inspiration
Like I told before the photo was taken at a photo event in 2016. Allthough there were lots of birds of prey that year this one stood out because it looked at everyone in such an angry way. And with every move that was made, it looked increasingly angry at you. You would almost become scared of it, were it not that the animal was only about 10 centimeters tall... I just had to take a picture of it, I just had to!Editing
For editing I mostly use the program 'PixLR'. I really like this program, because it works in such an easy way and you can get so many different result with one photo. So this photo is also edited with that program. In my camera bag
I'm not someone that has a lot of different gear with me (I also don't have all the money for it). Normally I just go out on a trip into the nature or just visit a city or something and I hate taking all kinds of stuff with me in a big bag. And with the way I take photo's, it's also not convenient to change Lenses. It's always taking photo's from a short distance and then just a second later it's a photo from a further distance. Or I want to make a close up from something and then the other moment I see something that is just a little further away and I don't have the opertunity to go near it. So that's why I only have one camera and one lens. Since 2018 I use a Sony a7iii with a Sony 24-240mm lens mounted on it. Maybe in the future I will get a special lens that is more suitable for photoshoots in a studio (Special for modeling) because I more and more like taking photo's of models.Feedback
Since I am certainly not a professional, I think I am not the one who can give all kinds of tips on how to take pictures. Hmmm, maybe one thing after all; you can of course look up a lot on the internet how to take pictures. You can take all kinds of courses to get better. But just don't forget one thing ... keep having fun taking pictures!
