Location
I shot this photo in the seaside town of Largs which sits overlooking the Clyde Estuary on Scotland's west coast. Largs was hosting a Classic Car Show and the seafront had a wide variety of vehicles from all past eras.Time
The shot was taken around noon. It was the end of July and fortunately the weather was sunny and hot which brought out a respectable crowd to the show.Lighting
No artificial lighting was used for this shot. It was a bright sunny day which isn't the ideal conditions for shooting but it worked out OK for this shot.Equipment
At the time I took this shot I was using my Nikon D90 with the 18-105 kit lens. The shot was taken hand held in Manual Mode and no flash. I had the lens set at 18mm with aperture at f8, the ISO was at it's native minimum 200 and shutter speed of 1/500th sec.Inspiration
There were loads of Classic Cars at the show and I took shots of many of them however this bright green car somehow stood out. I'm not a car expert or hobbyist but I'm sure the '54 Chevy is held by many to be a true Classic. I stooped down to get a front shot of the car and waited for a gap in the crowds to get my shot.Editing
I wanted to give the shot a water colour feel to it. I used various texture layers, blending modes and masking techniques in Photoshop to get the desired look I was after. In my camera bag
At the time of shooting I had my Nikon D90, the Nikon 18-105 kit lens and the SB-700 speed light. I would carry spare batteries for the camera and flash. I also had an IR remote trigger and an intervelometer for doing time lapse and star shots. Now I have my Nikon D850 and I use Tamron f2.8 G2 lenses 24-70 and 70-200.Feedback
This car was simply waiting there to be shot. I think the angle I took the shot at did the car justice. To get a similar look I expect some knowledge of post processing would be required.
