Location
I took this photograph at my favorite place on Earth Great Falls National Park, Great Falls, Maryland. I have been there more than any other National Park. I have been to over 125 National Parks.Time
This photograph was taken at noon on a bright sunny day.Lighting
It had been raining but it was bright and sunny with some clouds right at noon.Equipment
I used a Nikon D-90, a Sigma 18-300mm, no filters, no tripod, handheld but braced on a railing.Inspiration
I have taken more bird photographs than any other subject. Osprey, Hawks, Bald Eagles, Vultures, Sea Gulls and other birds including Woodpeckers and a variety of herons and egrets. I love Great Falls and it has plenty of birds and other wildlife. The herons fly through the gorge looking for fish this particular heron caught a fish and was coming in for a landing with his catch. I took this picture from 1/4 mile away.Editing

Nikon D-7000, Nikon D-90, Nikon D-70 and a P-500, Sigma 18-300mm, 3.5f, Nikon 70-300mm, 5.6f, Tamron 18-400mm, 4.5f. One tripod, and one monopod, and neutral density filters.Feedback
I spent five hours pursuing photographs at Great Falls National Park. I got some great shots but this one is the best of them all.
