Very cool shot. I love the way you included the alley walls. Really makes for an awesome composition!

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in downtown Vassar, Michigan, my home town. It was taken looking down an alley/walkway in the middle of town.

Time

The photo was taken mid-day on a sunny day.

Lighting

I wanted to use the sunlight to create a nice contrast between light and shadow in the alley, and withinn the colors of the star itself.

Equipment

This photo was taken with my Canon 80D (handheld), with my EF-S 10-18mm wide angle lens @ 14mm, ISO100, f/5.6, and shutter speed of 1/800s.

Inspiration

I was out walking around town to find something interesting to photograph, and I found this street art that local students had painted as part of an art class, and this really jumped out at me...the bright colors and geometry of the star in contrast with dark alley and old brick are what I really liked about this.

Editing

I used Luminar 3 for post-processing, with some cropping. I used masking and exposure adjustments to bring out more of the brick detail out of the shadows, and to engance tge star's colors a bit.

In my camera bag

I typically carry my 80D, and my lenses I use most...EF 50mm f/1.8, EFS 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6, EFS 18-55mm zoom, and EFS 55-250mm zoom. I carry a Haida M10 filter system & ND/GND filters for long exposure photos. Finally, the basics like an extra battery, remote shutter release, lens brush, etc.

Feedback

I would say to just go out and take pictures around where you live! I've live in this VERY small town my whole life, and didn't even know this was here! So get out and explore!
