Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken along the giulianova coast, at the end of summer it is customary that many kentish plover gather on the beach

Time

The photo was taken just before sunset, the light was warm and shining on the ground

Lighting

The subject rests, but as usual as soon as the sun goes down behind the mountains the kentish plover rise to go along the shoreline in search of invertebrates, the subject has just woken up.

Equipment

I used the 1DXII canon with a 500mm and a 1.4 multiplier, resting the equipment on my backpack, I was completely lying on the beach, I wanted to shoot the subject at his eye level.

Inspiration

I have not been inspired by other photos to make this one, I photograph kentish plover all the years, it is my consetuedine because I have a lot of sympathy for this bird, among other things I find that the male in reproductive dress is also quite beautiful.

Editing

In the post-production phase I didn't do much, the photo was already almost done, as my practice I fixed the curves a bit and I'm done !!

In my camera bag

In my backpack there is usually the 500 milliters f / 4, the 16-35 f / 4 and as a zoom I use the 100-400, I find the latter very versatile for close-ups and for subjects in close flight.

Feedback

My advice to photograph the waders and to get a mat to be placed where they are used to go to eat or rest, lie on it and cover themselves with a camouflage cloth, as a support I recommend a pillow or a backpack to hold the equipment.
