Behind The Lens

Location

I took this picture inside my house. Can't travel too far with the virus so I began taking pictures of odd things around my house.

Time

It was in the afternoon. The time of day was really not that important in taking this picture.

Lighting

This anchor is only about 2 feet tall. I put it in a lightbox with a black background. The LED lights were up very high so it created the shine you see and made the background appear to gray.

Equipment

I used a Nikon Coolpix camera mounted on a small tripod. No special lens and no flash.

Inspiration

I like the shaped of this object. It is a two foot tall statuette, but in the picture is looks larger. I especially like the way the rope wraps around the anchor making it appear separate from the anchor. It is not. The whole thing is one piece carved to look that way.

Editing

No post-processing. That is straight from the camera.

In my camera bag

I really don't carry much equipment. Just my camera or an iPhone.

Feedback

Lighting I think is the key to this picture. I tried low light to bright light. I liked the bright light for this better. Sometimes I will use a flashlight to get a shadowy spotlight effect. Try experimenting with various types of lighting. It really makes some pictures look different.
