Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at home in a lightbox.

Time

I was on a Sunday afternoon when I had nothing to do. So I decided to place around with the little pumpkins I bought at the store. They were one sale for Halloween.

Lighting

I set the lightbox on low light.

Equipment

I just used a Nikon Coolpix 100 camera with a little table top tripod.

Inspiration

Halloween was my inspiration. I had this childhood idea or rolling pumpkins down a hill and watching them race to the bottom to see which on went the farthest.

Editing

I used Photoshop to eliminate the background and to shrink some of the pumpkins to make them appear further away.

In my camera bag

I only carry a camera if I know I am going to a place for the purpose of taking a picture. But most of the time a snap pictures with and iPhone when I see eye catching things.

Feedback

Props are a great way to practice taking photographs. Odd things around the house is a good start. Place them in odd arrangements and see what you can come up with.
