Andean condors (Vultur gryphus) are largest flying birds, with this adolescent being around 2 years old and spanning 3m across wings. If you want to get a good wildlife photo, it pays to know the behaviour of the animal you are after. Condors have a weak sternum in comparison to large flight muscles and this particular physiology results in them much preferring soaring to flapping. They tend to survey the surroundings perched on high cliffs from which they can dive and catch heat thermal to gain height. Which is exactly what I caught doing this one.
