Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve while we were waiting for the tiger to come out from the bushes.

Time

Usually the safari timings are early in the morning and in the afternoon. I remember we got in the park early in the morning around 6 AM searching for the tiger for our group. It takes patience to get a striped mammal in your camera. While we were waiting for the tiger in the jungle we saw this fellow on our side just popped out with lights falling right on him.

Lighting

Perfect time to click a bird is early in the morning when sun is just out and right behind the camera. Suddenly this fellow popped out from the woods at our eye level and gave us a good look.

Equipment

Camera Canon 7D Mark II Lens Model - EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM The above combination is the best for a wildlife lover. The lens is fast and gives good range to click wildlife including birds.

Inspiration

Jungle is the perfect place to take pictures of the birds in their natural habitat. During our safari visit we get many surprise visitors while we wait for the big cat to give us the opportunity to click.

Editing

Usually a bird photography does not include lot of post-processing mostly a crop, light adjustment and noise reduction is what is usually required.

In my camera bag

During a safari its always a risk to change the lens mid way. Hence a single combination of Camera Canon 7D Mark II & Lens Model - EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM usually gives a good chance to take both mammal and birds. A binocular comes handy when the light is a too bad.

Feedback

Bird photography is a tricky subject and doing the same during the safari is a very different. You cannot predict what's the nature got for you there. Just take the opportunity to visit the jungle and enjoy the nature.
