First tiger safari, we waited for the tigress on the road and suddenly at distance we she her coming out of the bamboo bushes... and in no time she is as close as 10 feet from our vehicle. With 100-400 canon lens this is what i could get.. eye contact.. gave us the goosebumps.

Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, Maharashtra, India

Time

What a moment it was when this female tigress came out from the bush right on our side of the gypsy. She kept coming closure to our vehicle. This was early morning around 7:30 .. time froze and we kept looking at this beautiful female tigress. It allowed few seconds for us to grab this photograph before she walked back in the woods.

Lighting

Telia lake gives and wonderful opportunity to create beautiful tiger landscape however this time it was too close the vehicle and light was just right to grab a close up.

Equipment

This was shot using Canon 60D with 100-400mm lens. Handheld with the support of vehicle side bar.

Inspiration

On a tiger safari there is always a surprise. And yes in our first every tiger safari tour, early morning this lady just walks out of the woods to gave this glimpse. I am always fascinated by head shot closeup with eyes looking straight at the camera.

Editing

In wildlife one seldom get time to adjust for the frame, however for this image i had to do a little crop to get the nice symmetry and converted the coloured image to black-n-white.

In my camera bag

Being a wildlife enthusiast first thing i put in the bag is an binocular. I have recently upgraded my camera from Canon 60D to Canon 7D Mii. 50mm f/1.8, 100 f/2.8 macro and 100-400mm lens is what fills up my bag always.

Feedback

Wildlife photography is all about capturing the moment and being patient in the field.
