This photo was taken in New Zealand, the Southern Island during my 10 day trip last year. There is this lighthouse at Nugget point that comes with this beautiful view. If you ever find yourself in New Zealand, try to visit the lighthouse at Nugget point.Time
I believe it was mid day, maybe around 2 pm. We had traveled to Nugget point early in the morning, but we made so many stops on the way to enjoy the beautiful landscape we arrived a little later then planned. If I remember correctly this picture was taken on the 17th of March 2019Lighting
I wanted the centre to be slight lighter, to draw the viewer in. I must admit, when I was capturing this, I wasn't thinking about how others would be viewing this picture. I wanted to capture to moment, the way everything looked. The movement of the water, the incredible blue ocean and roughness of the rocks. I took a long exposure, used an ND filter, but did my best to capture that brightness of the day.Equipment
My go to camera is the Canon 6D, I used a H&Y ND1000 77mm filter, a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens, a remote and a Rollei C6i tripod.Inspiration
I was on a 10 day trip, we had planned to visit lots of different places and just take our camera everywhere. You never know what you come across, right? Even though the trip to Nugget point was planned, I never had imagined it was so beautiful. So I wanted to capture what I saw and take it home.Editing
I use post processing in most of my pictures, but I like to keep everything as natural as possible, at least with this picture and most of my other pictures. Lightroom is the program where I load in all my pictures and do some rought post processing, before I move on to photoshop. I tweaked some lighting here and there, added a little more contrast and lightened the centre a bit to draw you into the photo. Removed some dust spots and to be honest, that is about it.In my camera bag
I always carry my tripod, ND filter, a few lenses, mainly an all round lens, a 50mm, a macro and a wide angle lens, some cloth to clean the lenses and my remote. And of course a bottle of water, carrying all that gear around makes you thirsty.Feedback
Try to take in as much of your surrounds as possible, take your time to find the right angle and composition and take your time. Set up your stuff and keep looking around, try different compositions to get it just right and have fun. Enjoy the view while your there.
