Location
The photo was taken in a small studio in Melbourne, Australia.Time
The photo was taken on the 9/3/2019 at 3.57pm and had been struggling to work with the model but after having a quick chat about the type of shot I was after everything fell into place. There was a series from this shoot which I was really pleased about.Lighting
The natural lighting was particularly soft and filtered through frosted glass giving the image a sensual dreamy feel which was what I had in my mind at the time of shooting. The real challenge was to get the angles right and the subject pleasantly lit.Equipment
This was shot hand held using a Nikon D750, 50mm lens at 1/500 sec f2.0. No other equipment was used in the shoot.Inspiration
I have long held this idea of shooting a series of bodyscapes and as the shoot progressed I began to see this series of sensual looking images and began to direct the model in different positions and utilising the natural light to best effect. Could not have been happier with the results.Editing
Fortunately this particular shot was perfect out of the camera. The only post production was to convert the image to black and white and some minor tweaks in the highlights and shadows. That is all.In my camera bag
I generally pack my Nikon D750 body, Nikon Z6 body and a 50mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm lens. This gives me great options to shoot with.Feedback
Advice for others to shoot in this style, communicate clearly with your model. Understand any limitations of the shoot, understand what the model is comfortable with and put some thought into capturing that moment of ‘authenticity’ in your image. Lastly, work on your lighting. look at the angles, look to see how the light is falling and adjust as needed.
