Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my college dorm room using natural light. It was a spur of the moment idea, I didn't have my mom for very long and luckily it was a sunny day so it worked out.

Time

It was around 12:30 pm.

Lighting

The natural light came from two windows, the sun was high enough to let just enough light into the room that illuminated everything but not too much light that made everything too bright.

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikok D3300 with a 18-55mm lens. No other equipment was involved.

Inspiration

My mom inspired me to take this photo because it is one of her fears. The fear of growing old is about her body not working as well as it used too and all of the problems that come with you getting older.

Editing

Yes, I had to merge a photo of my myself and a photo of my mother to make the growing old concept work. It took a couple hours trying to get our features to line up as close to perfect as I could. I turned the black and white filter on and played around with the contrast and lighting levels. I also went back in and cleaned up the background.

In my camera bag

I have my Nikon D3300, my 18-55mm lens, my portable flash, my cameras battery charger, a wipe for my camera lens, and a small notebook with a pencil.

Feedback

Make sure you have lots of natural light and have patience. Take as many pictures as you can of both models, that way you have a lot of photos to choose from to make the features line up. Have patience and don't forget to have fun making photos.
