Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in the lighting studio at Henderson State University.

Time

This is one of my favorite images because I was just learning how to use studio lights. I took the photo late in the evening after a full day of classes, it was an impulsive decision to use the snoot light on the brown jar to make it light up.

Lighting

The photo is full of things I like to do. The blue color filter is to give it a water feeling because i like to swim, the pastels and drawing tablet is to show that I like physically drawing on paper as well as drawing on a computer. The headphones are because I use music as a way to escape but also relax. The meditation balls are to show I'm stressed out alot but also trying to managed it and destress. The plaid flannel is to ahow my favorite shirt since I get cold alot. The sunglasses are my favorite pair that I've had for a long time. The bottle being light up was an impulsive decision to show that I like to change things up.

Equipment

This was shot with a Nikon D3300, and two studio lights. A blue filter and a snoot light. I apologize but I dont remember the strength of the builds of the studio lights.

Inspiration

I was required to make a still light for my lighting class for an assignment but i also wanted to get more familar with being in the studio and using artifical lighting since before then I had only used natural light.

Editing

I brought the photo into photoshop to adjust the levels and lighting but that's about it.

In my camera bag

The first thing is have is my Nikon D3300 with a basic 50mm-75mm lens. A small notebook with a pen, charger for my camera battery, and some lens wipes to clean the lens if it gets dusty.

Feedback

Play around with lights in the studio and dont be afraid to experiment with lighting and different filters.
